How To Write Introduction, Elevator Pitch & Bio Scripts

The goal of a 60-Second ZivZo Introduction or Elevator Pitch Video is to get the viewer to engage with you. You will only have a few seconds before the viewer decides to either continue watching or to move on, so you need to capture their attention immediately with a hard-hitting, succinct message and call to action.

Your script should have 3 distinctive elements; (1) The opening introduction of yourself or the problem you can solve. (2) The message or information you want to deliver. (3) The call to action, what you want the viewer to do after the video is over.

A 60-second ZivZo video is typically 140 to 165 words depending on your speech pattern. You do not have to memorize your script word for word because we will put your script on an easy-to-read teleprompter, and you will have ample time to practice before we turn on the camera. You will also have plenty of redo’s if you need them…so relax…it’s going to be a fun experience!

Your script should be direct and to the point without long run-on sentences. Short sentences are easy for a viewer to follow. When writing your script, write it the way you normally talk, not how you would write a formal letter. Remember, you want to sound completely natural when the video starts rolling.

After you write your script, we strongly suggest that you print it out, tape it to a wall or mirror, and practice reading it. As you read your script, you will want to make changes to the wording of the script so it will sound as though you are having a natural conversation. Don’t be surprised if you change your wording several times.

You will want to change words such as: do not, to don’t or I am to I’m or there is to there’s, you want to sound natural not scripted.

Most importantly, you want to sound natural, not like a monotone robot..you want to look and feel as relaxed and natural as possible….so be yourself, smile, relax and have fun. You will have plenty of time to get your video perfect!

Details for Writing Introduction, Elevator Pitches & Bio Scripts

Below are 2 different approaches to writing your script. The first approach is to define a problem and to show how your product or service can solve that problem. The second approach is to introduce yourself first and deliver your message that will clearly describe your service or product or a specific message.

Both approaches require a final step, a “Call to Auction”, which is the most important step that tells the viewer what you want them to do next. A video without a call to action will bring little or no results.

Once you finish your script your ZivZo Producer/Director will review it with you and make some suggestions that will give your script a professional touch.

Don’t feel like writing your script, No Problem, ZivZo offers a script writing service for a minimal cost.

SCRIPT WRITING APPROACH #1

Identify A Problem, Then Provide The Solution

The fastest and easiest way to get a viewer’s attention is to discuss the “need or the problem” with the viewers you are trying to connect with first.  A few examples of the “problem” being identified within the first 5 seconds of the video to catch the viewers’ attention.

Problem Examples;

  1. Are you thinking about selling your home or purchasing a home?
  2. Are you starting a new business and need expert legal advice?
  3. Have you ever locked your keys in your car or been locked out of your home?
  4. Are you finding it difficult to find qualified in-home nursing staff?
  5. Do you know about the new tax laws that can save you thousands of dollars on your tax return?
  6. Have you noticed that your hearing is not as good as it used to be or you have ringing in your ears?

SCRIPT WRITING APPROACH #2

Introduce Yourself & Deliver Your Message

Some people prefer to start their video by simply introducing themselves and transition into the message or information they want to deliver. This will be effective when seeking employment  opportunities, or for political, religious, governmental, and local public announcements type videos.  This approach is also effective for private sector videos and used for fundraising, announcement, and private gatherings.

Introduction and message examples:

  1. My name is Johnathan Harris and I have been Certified Public Accountant for over 30 years.
  2. Hello, my name is Bob Johnson and I want to invite you to the Boys Club annual golf outing.
  3. It’s that time of year again. Hi, I’m Amy Smith, and I am seeking donations for this year’s hunger drive.
  4. Hello, my name is Brenda Jones and I’m running for Congress and I want your vote!
  5. Hi, my name is John Smith, I am the president of Smith Mortgage Company.
